Booster, serum, oil, essence - we have many names for the things we love! They are all active concentrates and their combined effect works like a catalyst for any follow-up products in your skin care routine. They often contain even more active ingredients and have a light weight molecular structure which enables them to penetrate deeper into the skins’ layers. Because of this, they are able to deliver faster results. This step has a defining effect in your skin care routine, especially if you chose a serum which is best suited for your skins’ specific needs.

Layering is the action of applying multiple serums or boosters on top of eachother, partly in order to moisturise on multiple levels but also to simultaneously treat different skin conditions. You can also use a light serum before your moisturiser, and end your routine with an oil that locks moisture in and enriches it with protective antioxidants. It is highly recommended that you change your serum with the seasons and with your skins’ needs. Extra vitamin C is great during the summer months because together with a UV filter it helps protect against UV rays and free radicals. During the winter time your skin requires more nourishing in the form of full serums with moisturising fatty acids.
